Dual-cure, bioactive universal composite for chairside bulk-fill restorative procedures. Unlimited cure depth, single-increment placement protocol.

Description

Predicta® Bioactive Bulk is a universal, dual-cure bioactive bulk-fill composite that streamlines restorative procedures while maintaining performance and longevity. It is designed to fill any size cavity preparation all the way up to the occlusal surface—without the need for layering—making it particularly effective for posterior restorations and as an amalgam substitute.

Moreover, this bioactive bulk-fill composite promotes long-term tooth health through the continuous release of calcium and phosphate ions. Additionally, it releases and recharges fluoride ions, contributing to remineralization and the formation of mineral apatite at the tooth-material interface. As a result, these bioactive properties help support tooth structure and reduce the risk of secondary caries.

“One of the best characteristics of Predicta is its dual-cure capability. This enables the dentist to fill the cavity in one increment, no matter how large the restoration may be. That saves time and minimizes the shrinkage tension in the tooth restoration interface. Being able to bulk fill in a single increment also minimizes the risk of contamination, as the whole procedure can be done much more quickly and efficiently.” – Manouchehr Kiaei, DDS, Sweden

“Predicta Bioactive Bulk is a unique restorative material; it is dual-curing, bioactive and well-suited for bulk application. There is no need for occlusal layering or to add a different composite on top of the bulk restoration. I love the ease with which large restorations can be made; it is a time-saver! The initial chemical curing process is nice and short, but not too short! My patients do not experience any pain after the application of the restoration. The restorations polish well and still look like new after several years.” –   Sjobbe Besseling, DDS, Netherlands

“Having something that is bioactive—something that lays down well and will create new hydroxyapatite or new tooth structure—is very beneficial.” –  Sheldon Seidman, DDS, USA

“I like Predicta Bulk because it fills in well and sets well. I am happy with how I’m able to trim and polish it, and the color is good. I have found that it flows to the walls of the preparation better than some of the other bulk-fills I have previously used.” – Sheldon Seidman, DDS, USA

“Predicta Bioactive Bulk has amazing esthetics while providing the security of dual-cure chemistry and bioactivity.” – Gregg Helvey, DDS, MAGD, CDT, USA

“It’s really the trifecta — you have a bulk-fill that’s dual-cure with bioactivity, which means you’ve got everything you need.” – Sheldon Seidman, DDS, USA

“At My Dental Company, we only use the highest quality of products. We are consistently looking for what products out there are the best. Parkell and their Predicta Bioactive line is one of those products and we love it. The more that we can create those ongoing and exceptional outcomes for our patients, that is really where we want to be in dentistry.” – Douglas Olson, DDS, USA

“I’ve been using Predicta Bulk to restore Class I and Class II cavities in molars and premolars for two years now. Predicta Bulk has consistently proven to have excellent properties and results. I placed over 2,000 restorations, many of which have been very large, and the failure rate of those restorations has been less than 0.5%.” – Manouchehr Kiaei, DDS, Sweden

“When I started using Predicta, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent color adaptability of this composite. Using only the A2/B2 shade, I have been able to match almost every tooth shade.” – Manouchehr Kiaei, DDS, Sweden

FAQ

Bioactivity! Bioactive materials release calcium, phosphate and fluoride, which trigger the formation of a protective layer of mineral apatite, the predominant element found in both enamel and dentin. They are also dual cure, eliminating the worry in incomplete cure of materials leading to sensitivity and failure of restoration.

Predicta Bulk is a highly polishable universal composite, that can be used in all areas of the mouth, and is indicated for Class I through V restorations. Predicta Core is indicated for core build-ups and as a post cement. The addition of Zirconia helps provide a strong and stable support for crowns made of zirconia, lithium disilicate, porcelain, PFM and metal.

Materials must always be brought to room temperature prior to use.

The most likely reason a dual-cure composite doesn’t set is failure to double bleed.

Remove the shipping cap. Extrude a small amount of material onto pad until it flows freely from both orifices. Place mixing tip on cartridge and extrude a pea sized amount onto pad prior to placing in mouth.

Regular viscosity is used ideally for large restorations where stability is desirable and material drift is not. Low viscosity is recommended for smaller preps where the ability to flow and adapt into tighter spaces is preferred and for better adaptation of hard to access prep margins and line angles. Both HV and LV versions can be used in all restorative situations. These guidelines are an aid when choosing a bulk-fill that more closely matches your needs.

No, Predicta Bioactive Bulk is a nanohybrid, it is optimized for wear resistance and is highly polishable.

Like all dual-cure composites there will be some self-etching bonding agents that are not compatible with Predicta Bulk, however all good quality universal bonding agents are compatible with Predicta Bioactive Bulk.

In vitro remineralization of adjacent interproximal enamel carious lesions in primary molars
Phyo et al. · 2024 · BMC Oral Health

Phyo et al. (2025), in a study published in BMC Oral Health, assessed Predicta® Bioactive Bulk, a bioactive bulk-fill composite, and Filtek™ Z350 in artificial interproximal enamel carious lesions in extracted primary molars.

Key findings
  • Under the conditions tested, Predicta produced significantly greater surface microhardness recovery than Filtek™ Z350.
  • SEM images showed greater mineral deposition in the Predicta and high-viscosity glass ionomer groups than in the conventional resin-based composite group.
  • Predicta’s surface microhardness recovery and fluoride content were similar to those of the high-viscosity glass ionomer cement.

The highest percentage of surface microhardness recovery (%SMHR) was found in the Predicta® Bioactive Bulk group, which was significantly different from the Filtek™ Z350 group.

SEM images illustrated greater mineral deposition in the HVGIC and Predicta bioactive bulk-fill composite groups compared with conventional resin-based composite.

Study context

This was an in vitro study using extracted primary molars and artificially created enamel lesions. It does not establish clinical outcomes in patients.

The demineralization resistance and mechanical assessments of different bioactive restorative materials for primary and permanent teeth
Ibrahim et al. · 2024 · BDJ Open

Ibrahim et al. compared Predicta® Bioactive Bulk-Fill with Beautifil Kids SA and a conventional non-bioactive flowable composite.

Key findings
  • Following pH cycling, Predicta Bioactive Bulk significantly increased the surface microhardness of dentin adjacent to the restoration.
  • The authors associated this result with the combined release of fluoride, calcium, and phosphate ions.
  • The tested bioactive materials demonstrated mechanical performance comparable to the non-bioactive control, while changes in color stability and surface roughness were generally similar across the materials.

It is expected that the synergetic effects between different remineralizing ions released by Predicta contributed to the significant increase in dentin microhardness.

The bioactive restorative materials tested here exhibited mechanical performance comparable to the control material with no bioactive ingredients.

Study context

This was an in vitro chemical secondary-caries model. The findings suggest potential resistance to demineralization but do not prove prevention of secondary caries in patients.
