Description

Predicta® Bioactive Desensitizer

Fast and Effective Relief from Dentin Hypersensitivity

Predicta® Bioactive Desensitizer is a desensitizing gel for teeth that is changing the way dental professionals treat dentinal hypersensitivity.
This ready-to-use desensitizing gel for teeth offers fast and effective relief from dentin hypersensitivity by utilizing calcium and phosphate—elements naturally found in teeth—to restore them in the form of hydroxyapatite plugs. These plugs begin forming immediately in the dentinal tubules upon application. Furthermore, Predicta continues to work by releasing calcium and phosphate ions in the weeks following the treatment, contributing to an additional layer of mineralization atop the tubules. As a result, this extended sealing effect enhances protection by broadening the barrier against stimulation of the pain-sensing A-delta nerve fibers in the pulp.

Clinical indications

Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer is effective in treating dentin hypersensitivity caused by exposed roots following periodontal surgery, bleaching procedures, scaling or root planing, and gingival recession. Additionally, it’s indicteed for treatment of prepared dentin for fillings, and/or prosthetic restorations.

Bioactive & Biocompatible Desensitizing Gel for Teeth

This syringe-dispensed gel is bioactive and highly biocompatible, containing no aldehydes, methacrylates, or other soft-tissue irritating chemicals. In addition, it requires no mixing, making it simple to use in both chairside and hygiene applications.

How to use Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer a desensitizing gel for teeth

Extrude a small amount into the plastic mixing well. Remove plaque and calculus as much as possible. Saturate a microbrush with the material and massage it into the tooth for 30–40 seconds. Using a rubbing motion will liquefy the gel and allow it to penetrate the surface. Wipe most of the gel off with a cotton roll and gently test the tooth by having the patient rinse with cool tap water. Repeat the procedure (if necessary), until the cold sensitivity is gone. If the tooth is still sensitive, repeat the application of Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer gel. Patients report relief from sensitivity lasting six months or longer.

FAQ

New Predicta Desensitizer is changing the way clinicians treat dentin hypersensitivity by using the elements that are naturally found in the tooth, (calcium and phosphate) and restoring them to the tooth in the form of hydroxyapatite plugs that quickly block the open tubules. As calcium and
phosphate ions continue to release, mineralization occurs to further seal the tubules. Also, there are no methacrylate’s or soft-tissue irritating chemicals used in production.

Yes. The desensitizing gel must be able to come in contact with the open tubules in order to penetrate and plug them.

Absolutely. It is moisture tolerant, therefore, air drying the tooth with an air syringe is not necessary. Simply blot the treatment site with a cotton roll or cotton pledget, apply the gel and leave it on the tooth for 30-40 seconds.

No. Unlike many resin desensitizers, Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer does not require the use of a curing light.

Predicta® Bioactive Desensitizer is a ready-to-use gel for reducing dentin hypersensitivity. It releases calcium and phosphate ions that support hydroxyapatite crystal formation on treated dentin and within dentinal tubules.

Predicta® Bioactive Desensitizer releases calcium and phosphate ions that promote hydroxyapatite formation on the dentin surface and inside dentinal tubules. This creates a mineral layer over the treated dentin and mineral plugs that occlude the tubules.

Predicta is a nanohydroxyapatite-based desensitizer whose proprietary composition contains calcium, sodium, phosphate, and silica (N. Luong et al., 2020).

Yes. In laboratory testing, Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer nanoparticles penetrated approximately 5–10 µm into open dentinal tubules immediately after application. Over the course of four weeks of storage in simulated body fluid, mineral apatite tags continued growth into the dental tubules up to a depth of 100 µm. The same university study also revealed that not only did a single application of Predicta Desensitizer provide immediate robust coverage of open dentinal tubules, but that a double application resulted in the formation of a homogenous layer of nanoparticles on the surface of bare dentin with wide patent tubules. After four weeks of storage in SBF, cross-sectional SEM imaging indicated a highly dense and homogenous structure of dentin measuring at least 20 µm in thickness of the surface zone that was not easily distinguishable from the subsurface dentin. (N. Luong et al., 2020).

Predicta Bioactive Desensitizeris indicated for hypersensitivity associated with exposed dentin caused by toothbrush abrasion, gingival recession, periodontal disease and acid erosion. It can also be used after mechanical tooth cleaning, scaling and root planing.

Yes. Predicta Bioactive Desensitizeris indicated for treating tooth hypersensitivity associated with tooth whitening procedures.

Yes. Predicta Bioactive Desensitizeris indicated for the treatment of prepared dentin before fillings and prosthetic restorations.

No. Predicta Bioactive Desensitizercomes as a ready-to-use gel and does not require mixing or other preparation before application.

According to N. Luong et al. (2020) in laboratory testing, Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer and Teethmate Desensitizer produced comparable dentinal tubule occlusion. Their bonding results were also statistically comparable when used with the tested phosphoric-acid/universal-adhesive protocol or the tested two-step self-etch system.

Dispense a small amount of gel into a plastic mixing well. Saturate a cotton pellet or precision applicator with the material and massage it into the tooth for 30–40 seconds using a rubbing motion. Repeat the procedure if sensitivity remains - it usually takes more than one coat for successful long-lasting desensitization.

Remove plaque and debris gently from the tooth surface, rinse the root surface with warm water and dry it carefully with absorbent cotton. It is important to also avoid excessive force or rotary polishing which may increase discomfort.

Wipe away most of the gel with a cotton roll and gently test the tooth by having the patient rinse with cool tap water. Repeat the procedure if sensitivity remains.

A second application should be performed if the patient has not been anesthetized and sensitivity remains. In more severe cases it might be necessary to book a second appointment and reapply one or two coats of desensitizer. If sensitivity persists, other possible causes of pain should be investigated.

Relief is not permanent and reapplication may be necessary. However, patients have reported sensitivity relief lasting six months or longer.

Store Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer tightly sealed in a dry place at 2–25°C and protect it from direct light. Do not freeze it, use it at room temperature and do not use it after the expiration date.

Yes. Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer is methacrylate-free, nanohydroxyapatite-based desensitizer containing calcium and phosphate.

No, Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer is free from aldehydes and other soft tissue irritants.

The exact number depends on several factors, but here's a helpful guideline: filling a Parkell mixing well with Predicta Bioactive Desensitizer is usually enough to treat one quadrant (4 to 6 teeth) with more than one coat. Based on this, a single syringe can conservatively treat about 9 to 11 patients, even when multiple teeth per patient require multiple coats.
